South Jersey's Largest and Most Advanced Urological Practice Reaches Milestone
CHERRY HILL, N.J., March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Delaware Valley Urology (DVU), the region's largest and most clinically advanced urological practice, announced today that it has recently treated its 1,200th patient at its state-of-the-art Cancer Treatment Center in Cherry Hill.
Delaware Valley Urology was founded in 2006 by physicians who live and work in South Jersey, and who are committed to delivering the most advanced and proven treatments available to patients. The partnership of more than 30 of the most experienced and best-qualified practitioners in the Philadelphia area is now the region's largest urology practice, serving thousands of South Jersey residents across three counties and features the Philadelphia area's first RapidArc Radiotherapy Suite.
"South Jersey is our home and we are so honored and proud to be able to successfully treat our neighbors who discover they have prostate cancer," said Karl H. Ebert, MD, President. "We welcome these patients into our 'home' and treat them as family. I am convinced that this nurturing environment contributes to the success of our treatment."
DVU treated its first prostate cancer patient in December 2008, shortly after it opened the doors of its new Cancer Treatment Center on Springdale Road. Just 48 months later, DVU's 1,200th patient walked through the door in 2013.
"Like many others, my family has been touched by prostate cancer," said U.S. Representative Jon Runyan, Co-Chair of Congressional Prostate Cancer Task Force. "As a strong advocate for promoting men's health in Congress, I was pleased to tour the DVU Prostate Cancer Center, and see how it embodies my same commitment to providing quality care for the citizens of New Jersey."
"I was the just the second patient to have ever been treated at DVU. They were still putting up the trim," said Peter Herrschaft, a Korean War Veteran from Williamstown. "I don't have another prostate to go get fixed, but if I did, I would go there."
"We established the practice to serve the community in which we live, a community which until recently has relied on nearby urban medical centers to provide the caliber of care and technology necessary to diagnose and treat serious illness with confidence," said Robert I. Barsky DO, FACOS, DVU First Vice President.
"Our phenomenal growth and success is a tribute to the patients we have treated and their positive word-of-mouth conversations about our facilities with neighbors, work colleagues and family," added Adam Perzin MD, Second President of DVU.
Delaware Valley Urology success can be attributed to its commitment to:
