DALLAS (AP) - Union Pacific has filed motions in civil court contending that three other entities are responsible for the collision that killed four U.S. military veterans on a parade float last year.
The motions seek to designate the city of Midland, Midland County and the parade organizer as responsible third parties.
The filings claim the three entities failed to exercise ordinary care in their actions relating to the Nov. 15 parade.
The motions were filed earlier this month in response to civil suits alleging that Union Pacific failed to provide proper warning at the crossing. The suits were filed in Midland and Dallas by injured veterans and their wives along with the families of vets who were killed.
A spokesman for the city declined comment on the railroad's motions.
