WEST ODESSA - An Odessa man is dead and another is fighting for his life after a crash on Sunday in West Odessa.
DPS officials say 51-year-old Scott Thomas Sommers died in the accident on North Tripp, just south of 23rd Street.
We're told Sommers was driving on Tripp when he left the road, overcorrected and slammed into a utility pole.
According to the report, he was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene
His passenger, 56-year-old Dale Piper, also of Odessa, was badly injured.
He's in critical condition with life threatening injuries at Medical Center Hospital.
No word on how fast the truck was going at the time of the crash.
