CRANE - The thought of a gas shortage in West Texas seems unnatural but it's exactly what happened in the city of Crane this weekend. Yet, no one knows why.

It was not a good start to the weekend for drivers in Crane. The Stripes ran out of gas Thursday, and that led to a domino effect. By Friday, the only three gas stations in the city were dry.

"People were getting stranded here without gas and everything," one Crane resident said.

Residents were angry and concerned wondering when they would be able to fill up again.

"I have no clue what's going on," one Stripes patron said. "They said that they were supposed to get a shipment like two weeks ago but it didn't come in."

On Friday night, a gas truck showed up and it seemed like the problems were over.

"It wasn't that much because they had to fill up everybody," one person said.

By Saturday afternoon, Stripes ran out of Diesel and Regular Unleaded fuel, again.

One driver NewsWest 9 spoke to tried to fill up his tank when the station ran out. He didn't even get a gallon of gas.

Off camera, Stripes said they aren't sure why there is a shortage of gas in the area but that they are trying to get it taken care of.
