It's a rare case for Howard County. The woman was arrested for child endangerment of the child she is carrying.

Howard County Sheriff Stan Parker tells KBYG News that 32-year-old Christene Michelle Beam, was arrested Wednesday after officers were contacted by the father of the unborn child.

The father lives in the Houston area and told authorities that his pregnant wife, who is currently on parole, is using illegal drugs.

Sheriff Parker says there are still details they are working through, but the pregnant woman may remain under his office's custody through the term of pregnancy, and under the care of the county, unless her parole is revoked and she is transferred to another jurisdiction.
