CARLSBAD, N.M. - A Carlsbad man stumbled onto a disturbing sight on Tuesday after he found a body in the Pecos River.
Police got the call around 4:30 p.m.
They met with Mike Depler in the 1000 block of South Canal.
Depler took authorities to a place where homeless people are known to camp out along the river.
That's where they found the body of what they believe is a Hispanic man in his late 30's.
The body appeared to have been in the water for a while.
Depler told Police that the man may have been homeless man that he knew because of the clothes he was wearing.
Authorities have secured the area and are investigating.
