MIDLAND - The Midland City Council gave final approval to a revised parade ordinance on Tuesday.
From now on, a permit will be required for any organization wanting to hold a parade, race or festival on a public street.
That also includes a map of their route.
Organizers will also be required to get insurance covering the event.
But the biggest change is that no permits will be issued if the route goes over a railroad crossing unless the railroad company gives their permission.
The same goes for events involving state highways.
The new ordinance will go into effect on March first.
