NEW MEXICO - Police are cracking down on commercial drivers in New Mexico's oil and gas country.

This week, over 100 tickets were handed out in Hobbs.

The operation is an effort to cut down on fatal crashes in Eddy and Lea Counties.

The Motor Transportation Police say the increase in oil production has led to more crashes.

The tickets range from speeding to equipment violations to improper licenses.
