LOVINGTON, N.M. - The City of Lovington is preparing to take the first step to build a new downtown plaza.

The building for the plaza could start as soon as April.

The first step would involve building sidewalks and an area for people to walk around.

The second phase of the project is still being discussed.

City officials hope to have the plaza completed by the end of the year.
