WINK - A night of drinking in Wink turned violent and landed one man in the hospital and another behind bars.

A man is accused of hitting another man with a fiberglass pipe and leading Winkler County deputies on a manhunt.

We're told the suspect is temporarily in the county working in the oil fields.

Sheriff George Keely says the men were drunk and began arguing over a handgun.

That's when the suspect started attacking Joe Fief and hit him several times in the head and throat with a fiberglass pipe.

Fief had to be airlifted to Medical Center Hospital because of the head trauma.

The deputies couldn't find the suspect because he took off.

However, witnesses told them where he went and the Texas Rangers were called in.

The suspect came out without incident.

Right now, he faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

There's no word on Fief's condition.
