83rd District Attorney Rod Ponton is cracking down on West Texas crime early into his first month in office.
This week, the Pecos County grand jury returned 41 felony indictments that Ponton presented to them.
Those include charges for sexual assault, burglary of a habituation, theft and child abandonment.
Earlier this month, the Brewster County grand jury returned 23 indictments and 10 more were returned from the Presidio County grand jury.
That makes 74 indictments so far and there's still another week left in the month of January.
In a press release, Ponton said his office is determined to work hard to protect the lives and property for the 83rd District.
