Hobbs Inmate Found Dead in His Jail Cell

HOBBS, N.M. - An inmate in Hobbs was found dead on Tuesday morning in his jail cell.

Jailers discovered 48-year-old Rene Van Der Pol hanging.

This was just shortly after he was arraigned on child pornography charges.

His bond had been set at $750,000.

Van Der Pol's body has been sent off for an autopsy but officials believe it was a suicide.
