GLASSCOCK COUNTY - He was the longest serving sheriff in the United States.
Now Glasscock County is saying goodbye to Sheriff Royce Pruit.
Pruit, affectionately known as "Booger," died last week.
A graduate of Garden City High School, he started working as a sheriff's deputy back in 1958.
He was appointed sheriff of Glasscock County four years later.
Pruit retired from the position in 2008 after 47 years of service.
A funeral service will be held for Pruit on Thursday morning at 10:30 p.m. at the Garden City Cemetery.
