LEA COUNTY, N.M. - It's a been a deadly flu season in New Mexico.
One of the victims was in Lea County.
Health officials confirm five people have died from the bug.
One was a 57-year-old woman from Lea County.
The others were in the 90's and late 60's.
Health officials say five percent of patient visits last week were for flu-like illnesses.
While that number has fallen for two consecutive weeks, authorities say flu season started early and rates of hospitalizations are higher than in recent years.
