Bell Helicopter celebrates 100th H-1 delivery

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - A milestone is reached today at Bell Helicopter, as the company celebrated a special delivery of the Bell H-1.

A ceremony was held at the facility with the 99th and 100th machines from the assembly line out on display.

It's part of a project that's been in the making for decades, but has started to really take off in recent years.

"The history of the H-1 program goes back more than 50 years," Bell Helicopter President and CEO John Garrison said.  "This is the H-1Y and the Z.  It's a 50-year program, and we've delivered the last 100 in about five years on the program going forward."

Major General John Croley of the United States Marine Corps was on hand to sign off on the delivery during the ceremony.
