SANDERSON - A four hour standoff in Sanderson came to a peaceful end on Monday night.

Terrell County deputies were called out to this home on Wilson Street for a family disturbance.

When they got to the home, they were confronted by 60-year-old Richard Powers, who was drunk and then threatened to kill an officer.

His elderly uncle and aunt were safely taken out of the home, while Powers barricaded himself inside for the next four hours with weapons.

We're told this incident is just one of many that they've had to deal with when it comes to Powers and the law.

"This is not the first time we've dealt with this individual and so we have a history with him. He's an angry person to say the least and does not have a lot of good things to say about the sheriff's office," Sheriff Clint McDonald with the Terrell County Sheriff's Office, said.

Powers finally surrendered peacefully after midnight.

He was charged for threatening to kill an officer and possession of a firearm by a felon.
