MIDLAND/MARTIN COUNTY - The next phase of improving the safety on Highway 349 is getting underway this week.
Starting on Monday, crews will be out on a 16 mile stretch of Highway 349 from Midland County to Highway 176 in Martin County.
The work is to make the highway in to a four lane road between Midland and Lamesa.
The project will be done in three mile sections, leaving two lanes open for driving.
Speed limits will be lowered while the highway is under construction.
This stage is expected to wrap up late Summer of 2014.
