HOWARD COUNTY - The Howard County Volunteer Fire Department has a new piece of equipment to help them fight the growing number of oilfield related fires.
Our media partners at KBYG Radio in Big Spring tell NewsWest 9, the fire department just received a new foam pump system that can pump 4,000 gallons of foam per minute.
The system is the latest addition to the department's arsenal to combat emergencies like tank battery fires and similar petroleum fires in road and rail accidents.
Chief Tommy Sullivan says the department started working with Chevron last summer who donated about $15,000 towards the pump system.
The fire department added another $8,000 for the custom-designed unit.
