The Texas Department of Public Safety has issued a statewide Amber Alert for Leah Marie Aguirre, age two, out of Crosbyton. She is a Hispanic female with brown hair and brown eyes.
Leah was last seen on Thursday, January 3, at 12:25 p.m.
According to the Crosby County Sheriff's Office, the child's mother- Tina Aguirre, 22 - was under investigation by Children's Protective Services. She was told if they came to her house, she would have to hand over the child.
Authorities say a man named "Miguel" posed as CPS worker and took the child. He is described as having brown hair and brown eyes and was driving a red Ford Focus.
Investigators say there are reports that the mother was trying to sell this child to someone in Mexico for $2,000. They believe Miguel may be involved in this in some way, and authorities are investigating the possibility that the mother could be linked to the child's disappearance.
