Search for Permian High School Football Coach Narrows

The ECISD Board of Trustees plans to meet on Friday at noon to approve the hiring a new head football coach for Permian High School. With the posting of the board agenda today District officials are announcing the names of three finalists who will be interviewed on Wednesday:

·         Ted Willman, current associate head coach/offensive line at Austin Westlake

·         Matt Anastasio, current head coach at Gregory-Portland

·         Blake Feldt, current head coach at Hays Consilidated, former head coach at Pilot Point

Both Willman and Anastasio are former Permian assistant coaches; Feldt once worked as

an assistant at Midland High School. The possibility exists that other candidates could be invited for an interview though none are scheduled at this point.

A committee will conduct final interviews on Wednesday and Thursday and make the recommendation to the school board at the meeting on Friday.

The hiring process, which was led by ECISD athletic director Todd Vesely, began in mid- December by creating a profile of the ideal head coach. Mr. Vesely sought input from coaches (former and current), athletic directors, principals, superintendents and former players. He also received quite a bit of input from community members. He contacted a number of possible candidates and narrowed the search to the three men named above.
