MIDLAND - A Midland man is now behind bars after a fight with his boyfriend took a dark turn.
31-year-old James Williams was found by police with blood on his hands on Saturday night in the 6600 block of Desert Wind.
They also found his boyfriend who told authorities that Williams was drunk and they had been arguing.
At one point, the boyfriend kicked Williams out of their house and that's when he became violent.
After banging on the door several times, he went to the backyard where they had 26 baby chickens in a crate.
Williams took 20 of them and squeezed them until they died.
The two men got into a fist fight before police arrived.
Williams is facing charges of assault and animal cruelty.
