Frito Lay and United host annual beef jerky drive for troops

Posted: Updated:

As many us wrap up celebrating the holidays safe in our homes, many U.S. troops are still serving our country overseas. That's why a few local businesses teamed up to remind our troops we still support them.

Saturday, local Frito Lay spent the day at all of the United Supermarkets in the Amarillo area for the 2nd Annual "Support the Troops Beef Jerky Donation Drive". These businesses also joined forces with the local America Supports You Texas group to make sure all of these beef jerky donations go straight to the troops who call the Panhandle their home.

"Drives like this, by using the American Supports You Organization has a database of troops that are from West Texas and the West Texas area so all the beef jerky collected here today throughout these drives will be sent specifically to those troops," said Ernie Cook, Frito Lay District Sales Leader.

Organizers say this event began last year at only four stores in Lubbock and Amarillo. But was expanded this year to include all of the United Supermarket stores in the United chain.
