Odessa Woman Stabbed Multiple Times

ODESSA - A vicious crime in the parking lot of a Mexican restaurant in Odessa.

Police say a man stabbed a woman several times.

31-year-old Joshua Chavarria, from New Mexico, is currently behind bars in Odessa after he slit a 28-year-old Odessa woman's throat in the parking lot of La Esparanza Restaurant in Odessa on Friday.

We're told the woman was inside the restaurant when Chavarria called her and told her to meet him outside.

The woman went out there and that's when Chavarria stabbed her multiple times.

There was a witness who saw everything, she ran inside the restaurant and called police.

When Odessa Police arrived, Chavarria was arrested.

He's been charged with aggravated assault, family violence.

As for the victim, her name has not yet been released but we do know she is from Odessa.

We don't know the severity of her wounds.
