Blasting Caps Spilled All Over Interstate 20 During Rollover Accident in Odessa
Staff Report NewsWest 9
ODESSA - Some dicey moments on the Interstate in Odessa after a rollover accident ends with blasting caps spilled all over the road.
The wreck happened on Interstate 20 and Grant, just after 6:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Police say a pickup hauling a trailer, hit a patch of ice, lost control, went into the median then rolled into oncoming traffic.
The pickup then slammed into another truck causing that truck to catch fire.
But that wasn't the worst part; the truck that caused the crash spilled blasting caps and tubular rods on the road.
The bomb squad had to be called out to clean it up.
The eastbound lanes of I-20 are now back open but only the outside lane of I-20 westbound is open.
45-year-old Armando Marin and his 25-year-old passenger Manuel Lyles, both of Monahans, and the other driver 50-year-old Tommy Stoglin of Odessa were all transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
