WEST ODESSA - The West Odessa Volunteer Fire Department is getting help getting back on their feet after vandals struck their fire house.

Gardendale's Permian Trucking Company and others gave them $17,000.

The money will be used to help replace equipment that was damaged by vandals on Christmas Day.

Fire Chief Jimmy Ellis plans to use some of the money to buy a new pump, which costs about $4,000.

More repairs may be needed after the pump is fixed.

The volunteers are going to save any donations left over until the spring as that's when grassfires usually become a problem in the area.
