MIDLAND/ODESSA - It's a new year and that means we are just that much closer to seeing new businesses begin to operate in the Basin.

Restaurants, retail, and entertainment are all things you can look forward to in 2013.

Construction has been underway for months now in Odessa for the Parks Legado Town Center off Highway 191.

Once its finished, Basin residents will get over 300,000 sq. feet of shopping, eating, office space and more.

Some of the shops moving in include Marble Slab Creamery, Whitehouse Meat Market and The Egg and I, all names seen in the Dallas Metroplex and Austin area.

Joe James Salon and Spa of Midland is also opening another location at Parks Legado along with the San Angelo-based Cork and Pig Tavern.

The eatery specializes in a wood fired menu including brick oven pizza and fine wine.

Over in Midland, Cinergy Cinemas is set to open summer of 2013.

The brand new movie theater will feature a full restaurant menu along with beer and wine, leather seats and some of the biggest movie screens between Dallas and Phoenix.

"This economy is about as hot as it can be," Bobby Burns with the Midland Chamber of Commerce, said in a previous interview. "It's one of the top five fastest growing economies in the nation so people are looking at Midland and the entertainment options are beginning to come."

Plus, there's a new restaurant in town that you can check out as early as next week.

Basin Burger House is finally opening their doors and NewsWest 9 got an exclusive sneak peek.

"It's a new restaurant that's fresh, the atmosphere is contemporary and the food is amazing," Exec. Chef, Gabriel Gutierrez, said.

After months in the making, the restaurant features a bar, patio and big screen TVs.

Gutierrez said the burger house is unique because everything is made from scratch.

"From our fresh ground patties to our house made buns," Gutierrez said. "Our vinaigrettes to our sauces, everything is made fresh here in house."

NewsWest 9 got a chance to taste their sliders and french fries, something sure to be a big hit with customers.

"It's something brand new to Midland and we're trying to stand out there as something no one has ever seen before," Gutierrez said. "It's the place that you want to be."

Basin Burger House is still looking for wait staff and kitchen staff. If you're interested in applying you can stop by the restaurant or go to basinburgerhouse.com.

The restaurant is set to open Tuesday, January 9th.
