ODESSA - If you live in Odessa and you need to register or renew your alarm systems, the City of Odessa recently made a change to their alarm system ordinance.

It allows the police department to start charging you a fee to renew or register it.

Depending on your alarm the price ranges from $15 to $25.

Police will send out notices when it's time for you to register as a courtesy but it is your responsibility to get it done.

If you need to get an alarm, you can go to the police department's website or apply for it in person.

Any person that uses an alarm without paying for it could face fines up to $500.
