REEVES COUNTY - Two people from Central Texas were killed in a head on crash in Reeves County.

The wreck happened on Friday afternoon on Highway 285.

State Troopers tell NewsWest 9, Gabriel McGrew, was trying to pass a car in front of him.

He got into the oncoming lane and then noticed a car was headed straight for him.

Both drivers veered into the shoulder to avoid hitting each other.

That caused both to drive into a ditch and slam head on.

77-year-old Alvin Gilliam and his wife, 72-year-old Joann, both from Fair Oaks Ranch in Texas, died at the scene.

McGrew and his passenger were not hurt.

So far, no charges have been filed.
