ODESSA - An Odessa man that was found guilty for killing his neighbors almost 20 years ago is still trying to find a way to get out of death row.

According to the Odessa American, Michael Dean "Spider" Gonzales is working with his attorneys to remove his death sentence.

Last week, they motioned for a stay of execution.

They are claiming that they need to do more research and that Gonzales was not competent during his original trial.

About a month ago, a district judge scheduled for him to be executed in the Spring.
