Man on the Run After Attempting to Run Over Sheriff's Deputy in Martin County

MARTIN COUNTY - A man is on the run after attempting to run over a sheriff's deputy in Martin County late Thursday night.

According to Ashley Borgsted with the Martin County Sheriff's Office, deputies along with a Stanton police officer were attempting to serve a felony warrant for Eric Ray Perez at his residence on County Road 2036 around 10 p.m.

That's when Perez jumped into a car an attempted to run over one of the sheriff's deputies.

Several shots were fired into the car but Perez escaped.

The car has been found but Perez is still on the run.

Perez is described as a 25-year-old Hispanic male.

He's wanted for attempted capital murder and fleeing by vehicle for the incident on Thursday. He's also wanted out of Midland for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
