NEAR CARLSBAD, N.M. - An investigation into the fatal semi rollover on Monday night has revealed that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

The accident happened about 25 miles east of Carlsbad.

Officials say that 27-year-old Guadalupe Ontiveros was driving south on Shugart Road when he lost control of his vehicle.

He attempted to regain control but the water in the tanker shifted and caused the semi to roll.

Ontiveros was ejected from the semi.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say that the factors in this crash included excessive speed and driver inattention.
