HOBBS, N.M. - A Hobbs man is facing felony charges after trying to burn down his wife's house.

According to police, 39-year-old Richard Sepeda told officers he went into the home and set the kitchen curtains on fire.

However, it took him a while to confess to the crime.

Authorities say that he denied the accusations at first and claimed that all he did was send a friend over to mess up the house.

He also tried to blame his friend for the fire.

Sepeda eventually admitted to starting the fire because he was jealous his wife had been seeing someone else while he was in prison.

He is being charged with arson.
