What was supposed to be a routine traffic stop turned into a high speed chase in Pecos County on Sunday morning.

We're told deputies tried to pull a truck over on FM 2886 but the truck never stopped.

Instead the driver led them on an eight mile chase.

Then the truck sped off Interstate 10 into a field and the driver got out and ran.

When deputies got to the truck, they found about 400 pounds of marijuana.

Authorities searched for the driver all day but have since stopped.

He is still at large but the Border Patrol is on the hunt for him.
