MIDLAND - The Ellen Noël Art Museum has announced that its Executive Director, Les Reker, will be leaving his position as of February 1st, 2013.

Mr. Reker has taken another position as museum director near Asheville, North Carolina. He will be re-joining his wife, who is employed in Asheville as a hospital administrator. The Museum has begun a national search for Mr. Reker's successor.

 Les Reker was appointed Executive Director of the Ellen Noël Art Museum in February, 2010. While at the Museum, Mr. Reker facilitated the Museum's becoming an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution. He was also responsible for the construction of the new Museum Store and the Mark and Jane Knox Visitor's Orientation and Welcome Center "This is a bittersweet moment for me", Reker said of his leaving "I have enjoyed serving this community and I have loved the Ellen Noël Art Museum. These have indeed been good years for the Museum; it is truly a "cultural gem" in our community."

    Kelly Raines and assistant coach Shelby Shelton are being honored as coaching staff of the year after taking the Hawks softball team to the NJCAA Division I Softball national tournament back in May and helped the team secure the Region V West Championship for the fourth consecutive year.
