Shortage in Prison Guards Causing Inmates to be Transferred Out of West Texas

A shortage in prison guards in West Texas is forcing the state to transfer inmates from two prisons to other areas.

We're told about 200 inmates have been moved from the prison in Lamesa.

That's because they have been operating with half the number of guards needed to run the prison smoothly.

400 inmates from Colorado City are also being shipped out.

Officials say higher wages are needed as an incentive to bring in more guards.
