TOYAH - The process to remove the Mayor of Toyah started on Wednesday.
Paperwork is being filed to oust Bartolo Sanchez from office.
He's accused of stealing city and federal funds from the town.
Sanchez is scheduled to be in court on Thursday.
Investigators tell NewsWest 9, he wrote $600,000 in fraudulent checks to himself from the city and stole another $75,000 from a Texas Parks and Wildlife Grant that was meant to be used for a rest stop.
Sanchez will be represented by a court appointed lawyer.
