Oklahoma is warning consumers of a scam that could result in identity theft.

The state's Attorney General says consumers across the state have been receiving text messages claiming they need to resolve negative balances from their banks.

When they call the number provided, they're asked to give their debit card information and social security number.

The Attorney General warns this is an identity theft scam known as "smishing" or "Phishing".
