MIDLAND - Midland residents will soon have some extra cash in the wallets because water rates will go down.
At a meeting on Tuesday, the City Council decided it'll be returning to its old rate structure at the first of the year.
Right now, if you use between 10,000 and 25,000 gallons of water, you're charged $23 plus the base rate.
In January, that $23 will be dropped to just $4.60.
Residents have the Colorado River Municipal Water District to thank as this change came about after they decided to lift restrictions on how much water they sell to several West Texas cities
