The Texas Rangers are continuing the investigation of an officer-involved shooting that took place at approximately 6:15 p.m. Wednesday in the ALCO parking lot on Main Street in Andrews.

DPS Criminal Investigations Agents were conducting a narcotics investigation involving a male and female suspect.  According to the preliminary investigation, as DPS officers identified themselves and attempted to arrest the individuals, the female suspect fled the scene.  When she allegedly attempted to hit officers with her vehicle, arresting officers fired.

A second suspect, Eric Carrasco (DOB 3-18-93) of Midland, was arrested without incident and is being held in the Andrews County Jail for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and a felony drug charge related to methamphetamine recovered during the investigation.

The DPS officers involved in the shooting will be placed on temporary administrative leave, which is standard procedure following this  type of incident.
