Snyder Man Shot by Police After Suspect Used Knife to Threaten His Son

SNYDER - A Snyder man was shot dead by police after they say he used a knife to threaten his one-year old son before charging toward an officer.

We're told 52-year-old David Rivera was threatening to kill his girlfriend, their son and then himself at their home on Saturday night.

The girlfriend and mother of the baby fled and wasn't hurt.

When police arrived, Rivera was at the front door with a knife at the toddler's throat.

They say when he put the youngster down and with a knife in each hand, he lunged toward an officer.

An officer shot Rivera who died later at a Snyder hospital.

The child was not hurt.
