WEST ODESSA - The Texas Rangers are investigating after a deadly officer involved shooting on Wednesday night.

Officials tell NewsWest 9 that around 7:15 p.m. a call came in that a man was waving a silver gun around at his home in the 4000 block of Uranus.

When Sheriff Mark Donaldson and a deputy arrived they went around to the back of the home.

That's where they confronted the suspect, who had the gun in his waistband.

The suspect then pulled out his gun, and according to officials, the deputy fired at least one shot.

The suspect was then transported to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa where he was pronounced dead.

It is not yet known who the victim is.

The Texas Rangers will be investigating the incident as regular procedure when an officer involved shooting occurs.
