Man Wanted in Connection With Weekend Shooting in Howard County Captured

SAN ANGELO - A man wanted in connection with a weekend shooting in Howard County has been captured in San Angelo.

Howard County Sheriff Stan Parker tells NewsWest 9, 19-year-old Chris Daniel Marquez was arrested in the 1900 block of Sherwood Way in San Angelo on Wednesday afternoon.

As NewsWest 9 reported on Sunday, the shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the 500 block of Driver Road, that's at the old VFW Building, south of Big Spring.

When deputies got there, they found 33-year-old Luis Adolfo Pena with a gunshot wound.

He was taken to Scenic Mountain Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

A second shooting victim, 33-year-old Raul Mendez , was also taken to Scenic Mountain by a private vehicle. He was treated and later released.

Pena's body was sent to Lubbock for an autopsy.
