BIG SPRING - A Plainview man is behind bars in Big Spring after firing off a gun. Officers were called out early Sunday morning to the 1300 Block of Madison.

Juston Louis Martinez was arrested and is facing numerous charges. Officers say Martinez was showing off a gun to a group of people. When one of the people said that the gun looked familiar, Martinez allegedly pointed the gun at the group and told everyone to stay back. As he backed away, he fired one round which hit an unoccupied vehicle.

Martinez then got inside a vehicle that was occupied by three people and allegedly pointed the gun at the driver and left the area. Witnesses at the scene believe that Martinez had just stolen the gun from a house next door.

Around 2 in the morning, a patrol officer spotted the car and stopped it. Martinez was arrested and the weapon was recovered.

He's been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, deadly conduct, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Martinez remains in the detention center awaiting arraignment. Additional charges are pending.
