Meteor Shower Taking Place This Weekend

Staff Report
NewsWest 9

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, how about a meteor shower?

The free show will be raining across the sky on Saturday night.

The shower will be best viewed from midnight right up until dawn.

At its peak, you should be able to see 25 meteors per hour.

The meteors are falling from a bright orange star but they're not associated with the star.

They're actually leftover debris from Hailey's Comet when it came by 26 years ago.

So make sure you get away from the city lights, relax and enjoy the show.
