MIDLAND - One man vying for a spot on the Midland School Board says the south side of the city needs new schools.

Robert Marquez, an independent oil consultant, is up against incumbent Angel Hernandez for District 2.

He says students in the county are looked over.

Marquez has three kids who have attended Midland schools and is a graduate himself.

He says he just wants to provide a voice to the district.
