District Court Candidate Indicted for Mishandling Elderly Woman’s Funds

An Alpine lawyer running for office finds himself on the other side of the law.

Joe Anthony Foster is mishandling an elderly woman's funds.

According to the indictment, Foster mishandled between $100,000 and $200,000 over a four year period.

The case has been turned over to the attorney general's office.

If found guilty, Foster could face between five years to life behind bars and up to $10,000 in fines.

Foster is running for the 394th state district judge seat.

NewsWest 9 spoke to his opponent, Roy Ferguson, who is running on the democratic ticket.

He had no comment but only said this was a very sad situation.

Foster's name will remain on the ballot.
