MIDLAND - The opportunities are big in the Basin but housing has halted a lot of folks who might otherwise make plans to move here.
That's why a new apartment complex broke ground on Thursday morning in Midland.
Claydesta and Dallas-based Midway Station Partners have teamed up on the project.
They'll be constructing a multi-story complex that can house over 200 families.
A spokesman says they have been working on this project for two years and they're hoping it can help fill a need.
"All these young folks who are graduating and trying to get into the business would love to come out and work. I get a phone call a day, now that I'm doing this, like, "there's no place to live." I saw that need two years ago and it's taken two years to get to this point where we're breaking ground and so we believe the opportunity is here and hopefully this will help to fill a need," Bart Irby with Midway Station Partners, said.
The spot is located at the intersection of "A" Street and Veterans Airpark Lane which is across from the Claydesta Post Office.
The complex should be ready to move into in just over a year.
