PRESIDIO - Another big pot bust for border agents working the Presidio Port of Entry, this time over 120 pounds of drugs were found in a peculiar way.
The weed was hidden inside metal collars that were attached to the rims of the tires of a SUV.
Border patrol agents said the collars were cut and welded specifically to fit the rims of a Tahoe.
The bust happened on Saturday morning when two women from Albuquerque entered the Port from Mexico.
Agents did an X-Ray scan of the car and something showed up.
Agents then used a density meter to scan the tires and bingo.
When it was all said and done, agents removed 124 pounds of tightly compressed marijuana.
29-year-old Christina Layne and her 20-year-old passenger Crystal Roybal were arrested and charged with a failed smuggling attempt.
