BIG SPRING - A Big Spring man was sentenced to six years in prison on Friday for sending sexual messages to a 16 year-old girl and he later he tried to commit suicide.
28-year-old Kyle Guthrie was sentenced for online solicitation of a minor charges.
The former radio personality was caught earlier this year when the girl's parents called the Howard County Sheriff's Office.
Guthrie was found guilty and taken to the Howard County Detention Center where just before 5 p.m., he tried to hang himself.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the attempt was unsuccessful due to the quick response of the detention center staff.
Guthrie was taken to a hospital to be checked out and was later returned to jail.
