ODESSA - The family of a woman who worked at Basin Healthcare Center and died after surgery is suing the medical facility for wrongful death due to negligence.
Samantha Tijerina was having a routine gallbladder surgery back in 2011.
After surgery, she was given several painkillers and was found dead the next day.
The lawsuit claims Tijerina didn't have her vital signs checked and that hospital staff simply checked on her and noted she was snoring.
The suit also claims two doctors signed affidavits saying that snoring could have pointed to a bigger problem and the nurses failed to monitor her.
